Surprised nobody has mentioned this on here but what are your favourite KR derby memories?

In chronological order;

The Mal Meninga Premiership Game
I can barely remember this now, I can still remember the feeling and the opportunity to go and see Saints win what would be my first ever trophy-winning experience at Elland Road vs Rovers. In reality Wigoon had eased off after winning their first proper trophy in years but that's a typically pitiful excuse as we all know even then.

Can hardly remember anything about this one other than it was the one victory we had over Wigoon at KR between Meninga leaving and Mike McClennan arriving. I was stood at the scoreboard end and seem to remember Roy Haggerty crashing over from near the line and that gave us rare bragging rights during a period of Wigoon oppression that would be lifted in the same way that Thatcherism was.

41-6
Nothing more really needs to be said about that game. The greatest RL team in the northwest of England over an eight year period are humbled by their local rivals big time. Nothing more to say about this. It was about as great a thumping as you can get.

41-26 Super League I
The one which started it all. It was the time we announced to the world that the tyrants of Wigoon had had their day. A new era of professsionalism, entertainment and RL magic was born and the watching world saw it. KC's run to give us Danny Arnold's kiss and Andy Northey cements himself in St Helens folklore when he banjoed Henry Paul to send us wild with the win. Magnificent stuff and this might well be one of my five favourite Saints-Wigoon games, certainly at Knowsley Road it is.

12 Man Saints do it again
Just to show that Super League I was no flash in the pan we do it again, this time in the cup and with twelve men. Awesome. Take that Cowie!

Millward’s first derby
Before Millward arrived we’d pretty much lost nearly every derby encounter since Super League I. I think we won a couple in Super League II but them pretty much fell off the radar and lost something like nine out of the next ten before Millward came and showed us to a promised land, from which we have yet to leave. Very similar to the 41-26 in terms of what it meant to us fans.

4-42 when Willie Peters cleaned us out
One of the biggest maulings we've had at home in the professional era is only in here because it was the pre-cursor to what remains my favourite Saints-Wigoon game, the 54-16 humiliation of them on their own turf. I bet they were so smug going out of the ground this day little realising that we'd destroy them at the JJB a couple of weeks later before beating them in the Grand Final a few more after that. So whenever I think of this game I think of the two that followed.

Another humdinger with high end achievement from two legends of Saints in the professional era. Firstly we had Tommy God’s wonder pass to Peter Sheils and then we had [ithat[/i tackle from KC on Mark Smith. Is it the greatest Saints tackle I’ve seen? Steve Prescott on Flowers in Super League I still gets my vote for that but this is definitely second and is one of the greatest tackles you will ever see. Hooker on hooker from 80m out. A tackle that would grace any era.

75-0
One purely for those that were there on the day. Rubbing their faces into the dirt on national television with a full house. It was like a party from the first minute to the final minute and I celebrated with some champagne afterwards it was that great. A top five derby of all-time for me.

I think since then we’ve been pretty much in control of the games and although there’s been a few great moments e.g. Eastmond’s try last year, we’ve been waiting for Wigoon to rise again so we can have a proper match. Last year was pretty good but neither of us were at the top of our game which is why tomorrow is so bloody exciting.

i have to say that the 75 - 0 drubbing was one of the best days out ever, warm superb weather, im sure we got those aussie style guiness hats that day too, and we just turned it on!
cant really choose the best memory tbh, beating them 14 - 10 in the semi final play off was good tho

41-6 was great, as it was so unexpected, Saints of the modern era had arrived

I remember one game in the mid sixties when Len Kileen had the ball about 2 or 3yds from the try line with Eric Ashton and Billy Boston in front of him. Kileen dived over the top of them and put the ball down but the try was disallowed.(ref said he had put the ball down in touch over the try line) The following day on the back page of a daily paper there was a picture that showed the try should of been given.
From the SL era the 75-0 is my favorite.

75-0 was amazing but for me the 41-6 was the greatest , the atmosphere was superb and watching the over confident cocky pie supporters perform a fair impression of a cardboard cutout just topped it off for me.

LOL I dunno about that, we blew the league that year (thanks to a loss to a truely dreadful Leigh team) then went backwards again for a while before we eventually crushed the pies under our heel in 96

One of the best derby games - perhaps THE best - was the (2/4-6?) Lancs Cup Final defeat at Knowsley Road. Can't recall a match as intense.

Something like that. It was when McCracken played - and knocked Bell into eternity.

Both of mine involve Jarrod McCracken.

The one were he was elbowed by Skerret and then got up and ran as hard as anything the very next tackle to prove he hadnt been hurt. Skerrett was still walking to the tunnel!

Here was my input.

Boxing Day 1976.
I was playing with a band (group) at that time and we were at Jolly Jacks Bamfurlong that night.
We were supposed to be there at 7:30 to set up and be on stage at 8:30 for the first set.

Wigan who hadn't won at KR for years managed a 14 -12 win, so I went into the Saints club for a celebration drink (as you would)

At 7 o'clock I decided I'd better make a move up to Jolly Jacks, the rest of the band weren't too impressed with my state on arrival. Big grin (P!ssed)
How did we do, all right, it was full of Wiganers who by that time had celebrated just as much as me.

My Saints supporting brother in law (RIP) who was the singer in the band was not impressed.
