| Quote boulevardclover="boulevardclover"just a thought, the club could suspend him until a verdict. this way it will help stop player distractions, help deter others from making offences that will lead to court and if he is found guilty and sacked the side wont be affected as he wont have played. If he in not guilty it could be a welcomed roatation for a few players and motivation for him to get playing again. in th mean time let him play in the reserves to keep him match fit.
dont know if this is a good or bad idea but if he is copying games then maby he can play at home

Not sure about that, an employer can do what they want in that situation but the suspended on no pay approach is a dodgy one.

very dodgy to the point of being illegal
If you wanted to suspend anyone on a criminal charge not connected directly to your employment and you had not been found guilty of any crime as yet. Then the only course of action is suspension on full pay, unless the person pleads guilty prior to the hearing then clearly the employer can act within his own stated terms of employment.
Do FC have a " actions that could damage the clubs reputation, standing or commercial interests" clause ?
I doubt it as they could have used it dozens of times in the last few years to my knowledge and even then they have to be consistant

An employee was getting suspended and they wanted to do it without pay, The union rep was more then happy to let them do this much to the employee's annoyance until the rep took him to one side and explained the situation as I have stated, This made the company check why the rep was being so cooperative and he was suspended WITH pay.
He was sacked 3 weeks later (No skin off my nose as the guy in question was the biggest turd you could ever meet)
But I don't know what the current situation is tbh.

Not always illegal. The action doesnt need to be whilst at work, if the employee is in the public eye they can be seen as at work permanently.
Wouldnt need the clause either in certain situations, its implied that it comes with the job.
nothing like this is black and white but FC would have grounds for doing whatever they want with the right legal counsel.
