My point was questioning the size of the chunk. If it is a big chunk then fair enough off with Price but when I have heard him interviewed he exudes more enthusiasm and insight than Price ever does. If in fact he has effectively been sidelined then I might think of him as a possible successor. If he is materially responsible for the debacle than I agree he should go as well.

| The ‘big’ coaches are hard to come by, Wane would be number 1, but he won’t walk away from a fight and that fight is England.
McDermott is a strange one, even with an excellent team he managed to turn out some mediocre seasons. That group of Sinfield, Burrow, McGuire, Peacock etc doesn’t take much coaching, with the foundations being laid by far better coaches before him.
Watson has done a great job with a small budget and has proved he can make players better. He would be the best choice, especially in times when spending is likely to slow down.
There are also very good coaches with a strong affinity with the club around and potentially looking for a crack at the job. Matt King is highly thought of in Aus and part of the successful Rooster & NSW coaching teams. Michael Monaghan is back at Manly as a part of a project to rebuild the club under Hasler. And Brett Hodgson (if he’s not signed up at Hull already) has served under McGuire at Wests.
But I think Richard Marshall should be a shrewd choice if Wane isn’t available. He was a key part of Smith’s successful era, took Halifax to the brink of the super league with no budget and has been at Saints under Holbrook and this season.

If you can tell me what the division of responsibilities are, eg selection, plays, substitutes. Then tell me how often Price over ruled Henderson then I would be able to assess the degree of responsibility. Without that it is pure guesswork.
Have you never made a suggestion to your boss to fix an obvious problem and been over ruled? Did you resign or think “oh well, I’ll document it and when she gets the push I’ll apply for her job”?
Look back to Saints under KC, Long was assistant. Cunningham got the push, Long stayed on under Holbrook and they were successful.
Nope, the top man shoulders the blame.

| Watson moving from Salford to Hudds is at best a sideways step if not backward. How can we let this happen? He has proven himself to be able to mould a team of cast offs into a team that's beaten us more than any other team in the last couple of years. Allowing him to move to Hudds is dereliction of duty from KP. If he doesn't want to come to us then that's a different matter. IMO if Watson moves to Hudds he lacks self belief that he can become a top 4 coach as Hudds set up believe that the Senior brothers are superleague standard!

| Quote Steve51="Steve51"I understand Dominic Cummings has some time on his hands.'"
Cummings would write 30,000 word blog posts about the failings of the club management, complete with his diagnoses that we needed to read the philosophy of Nietzsche and improve our data to get a more strategic approach to signings. The fan base would like what they heard, particularly as he would offer a ruthless culture to sacking the backroom staff.
The problems would come when people realised that he didn't offer much more than shaking things up and fighting people, all his appointments to the coaching staff would be nonentities chosen for their willingness to be nodding dogs to him, and his signings would reveal a willingness to spend large sums of the club's money on personal pet project players who had agents he knew.
He'd ban the Warrington Guardian from having access to the club on the grounds they were out of touch metropolitan elites and a curious number of new twitter users would appear with names like @Wolves916573671 with stories about the dark secret practices of the Cullen-Smith-Price cabal that need to be rooted out.
In the end the results would still be crap and he would fall out with everyone and quit and go back to his blog.

I lived in Yorkshire for 12 years, and you come across guys like Daryl Powell all the time. If you call in a plumber or take your car for a service you can bet the guy's personality will be a carbon copy of Powell. Humourless, charmless, giving the impression they would rather be doing anything than their actual job, no time for niceties, just want make sure they get paid and be done.
But now I'm in London, I actually prefer that type of bloke to the equivalent down here, ie the Eddie Hearn style cheekie chappie trying to get you in to his stupid banter whilst trying to rip you off. At least the humourless Powell types were generally honest and would do you a good job.

That is chillingly similar to what you could easily write about Donald Trump, except of course the bit about reading Nietzsche. It would need to be a picture book, and even then he wouldn't like his views on Christianity.

If Trump took over he would tap into a certain section of the fanbase by claiming he would jail Steve Price. "Lock Him Up! Lock Him Up!" they would chant. He would claim that now he had taken over, we were all free to use the word "Wire" again, ending the political correctness that meant we were all banned from saying it, and guarantee that he would protect the Brian Bevan statue from the woke leftists who want it to be pulled down to be replaced by a statue of a womens RL player. He would sign an executive order banning the importing of overseas players (which he referred to as Aussie LOSERS). By this point he would have a massive fan club on this site with plenty of sycophants willing to proclaim his greatness and support him to the bitter end regardless of results.
Then when the season started he would start spending the club's money at will, signing players with huge transfer fees, then sacking them and being forced to pay them off after just a few games. He would accuse the league of being corrupt, and rigged in favour of Wigan and St Helens, which would pander to his base on the terraces and keep them onside despite poor results. He would start receiving criticism from former Warrington players for the way he was conducting himself, and would hit back on twitter. "Crying Cullen is a LOSER! Never played in a Cup Final! Sad!" "Simon Grix was a WASTE! Twelve years getting paid to sit in the treatment room. I like players who don't get injured!" He would appoint rubber duckie as his press spokesman. The duck would stand up in front of the media and say straight faced that "Wire will win the lot" and that this was "the greatest Wire team in a generation" and tell us gleefully of the President's plan to pursue a "Warrington first" policy where only players born in the town would be eligible to be brought through into the first team.
Despite his best efforts to run the club's infrastructure down, there would still be enough good players (at least in his first season) to get us into the playoffs. Trump would confidently predict that St Helens would steal the result and warn Warrington fans that we had to be vigilant and Saints would be colluding with the referees. Then after we got knocked out he would complain about it in the press conference...."We had a lead, we had a lead, 12 to 8 and it was a beautiful thing, and then what do you know, in the second half the lead magically disappeared. It was such a beautiful lead and it magically disappeared. They were scoring points...they were scoring so many points and they were counting the points that were scored illegitimately. Some of the tries they counted, they were scored by dead people, everybody knows it, you all know it, they were dead people, they weren't legitimate tries." Then he would announce his campaign to challenge the result. "WE WON BY A LOT!!!" he would post, and indicate he was taking the RFL to court to get the disputed points to be thrown out.
Most of the members of this site would support his claims, posting repeatedly all over this and every other club's forum, that the referees decisions were all wrong, the game was rigged, Saints always get decisions in their way, if it wasn't for the fake refs decisions, Warrington would have won...

| My guilty confession is that I really wasn't [ithat[/i bothered when we went out of the CC - another victory would have seen us slapping on another roll of wallpaper over the gaping cracks.
Similarly, a part of me was hoping for defeat v Hull as being the only catalyst that might trigger change. What if we'd have won and gone on to win the final? Hmm, I'd have been pleased but certainly not euphoric and I'd defintely be asking Price for his lottery numbers because at that stage he'd be luck personified.
