| Velcro boots:Abe Froman:Lord Tony Smith:
Interesting that Abe tweeted over the weekend that there are
only three people who oversee every recruitment and retention decision and that
these three people don’t receive half as much criticism as others. They are:
Simon Moran
Stuart Middleton
Mike Lomax
The 'top 3 triangle' are ultimately responsible for the sanctioning of new signings & extending the contracts of players, with plenty of input from the Director Of Rugby and the senior coaching staff, as well as advisors that are used in Australia. It's their money that's being spent afterall. But nobody seems to mention them when criticising the clubs structure & on/off field results, which I suspect is down to the money they've put in to the club over the years. Imagine what position we'd be in now without them, especially SM. I don't think you can criticize them then, the club are paying people to advise and they are taking on board the advice given. The serious lack of quality falls on the people giving this advise. I have zero knowledge of who we use and if its the same people but if it is, after decades of poor recruitment with the odd exception id be cutting ties with no leaving card. When you say 'the club are paying people to advise' I assume you're referring to our Director Of Rugby & senior coaching staff ?

| I agree - all out for Wane and let him get on with it. If it isn’t Wane then whoever it is has to be given free rein. No Lomax organising lash-ups, Middleton telling the dressing room how much he’s paying them and no Moran making his own mad signings. No more stupid gimmicks, no games on the road - complete and utter focus to try and win the big one. Once they’ve done that they can p * ss away their money and mine however they like.

| Seems like the Wire has been looking for a saviour since at least our win against Halifax in 86 & even longer than that. Unfortunately, we have also become a graveyard for managers/coaches & will not be a magnet to any candidate who wants to build a future in the game.

The Biffs Back:morrisseyisawire:
The one, tiny bit of light at the end of the tunnel is the current crop of youngsters coming through or about to.
I don't want to p155 on your bonfire but in the 1st Yorkshire v Lancashire academy game Leeds Rhinos had 11 players out of the 17 man squad that totally demolished the best that were picked from Wigan, Saint and Warrington combined https://www.therhinos.co.uk/article/21749/yorkshire-triumph-in-game-one-of-2025-academy-origin
Yeah forget it they’re all rubbish. Doesn’t work like that and having watched that game the big stand out was the Yorkshire prop who played for Saints. I think Morrissey was probably referring to the likes of CTW, Lindop, Hayes who have already broken in.
